Web site development is about all that. What makes it seem unfamiliar is its crossing of information design with information technology. Graphic design, writing and editing mate with interface design, systems integration and programming. For a manager, the goal is to keep the design and technical teams on the same wavelength. As the site moves beyond planning to the nuts and bolts of page design and coding, the teams need style guides.
